This trip should have happened earlier in the year but was postponed due to ankle surgery on our friend, Chris. The site we are due to meet at allowed us to re-schedule without any loss of deposit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We decided to take the caravan on this trip. Ruby hasn’t been used since our Spanish winter so it was time to see what’s working and what needs to be fixed before the next Spanish adventure. Also, an opportunity to try out our new Campervan drive-away awning – a Telta Core 260 – which, apparently, with the correct adaptive tunnel, will also work with the caravan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Progress on cleaning the caravan and getting everything ready was remarkably uneventful and went quickly, so given the weather forecast was positive, we decided to extend our stay in the Cotswolds with a four night stay at my favourite CL – Newton Grove in the Hamlet of South Newington between Chipping Norton and Banbury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a large sloping field with two hardstanding pitches. Other than the hard standings (we had booked one of these), the site is flexible as to where you want to park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s an off-grid site but the owner, John Clifton has built several solar stations for use by the campers. We hope not to need this additional power as we have an on-board inverter and solar panel on the caravan coupled with a 2KwH Aferiy power station in the campervan – hooked up to yet more solar panels on the roof of Nellie. The site has fresh drinking water, an Elsan point, recycling facilities, picnic tables and firepits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nearby is the village of Great Tew and we plan a walk to the stunning Falkland Arms pub for lunch one day.<\/p>\n\n\n
