Anita’s Touring Caravan Park, Campsite, PODs and Holiday cottages is the more complete name to the site we are presently camped. It’s located just off the A423 Banbury to Southam road (yes, there is a little road noise) next to the village of Mollington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mollington is near to the village of Cropredy which is apparently home to a music festival, the Fairport Convention. (Anyone heard of them?).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We were met by the friendly owner at the reception \/ shop. For a small site the shop is remarkably well-stocked. There are two toilet blocks, a main block and one which is more like a satellite – two toilets (his and hers) and some dish washing capabilities. The satellite is immaculately clean – not visited the main washrooms yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note that there is also what appears to be a dedicated area for maybe around a dozen or so seasonal pitches \/ pitches for local workers. There’s a mixture of hard standing and grass with electric hook-up – we are on a grass pitch. The site is on a slight slope and some of the hard standing pitches only have room for the caravan on gravel – the awning would be on the grass anyway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The village of Mollington is just a few minutes walk from the campsite, accessible through the owners garden, taking care not to frighten the free roaming chickens! Mollington itself is an easy 10 to 15 minute drive from Banbury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It boasts one pub – The Green Man – which claims to be open a few hours each evening for drinks only. The caravan site owner thinks it hasn’t opened since the last lockdown ended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are, judging by the leaflets we picked up in reception, many pubs worthy of exploration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mollington itself has some very nice cottages, built with the yellow Cotswold sandstone which is native to this particular region. There is also a rather hideous estate in the middle of the village which was built several decades ago to accommodate workers from the local Birds factory which had located to Banbury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apart from the Green Man, the village has a nice church which is probably Saxon in origin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
